The Belgium-Hong Kong Society (BHKS) organized the "End of Summer Business Seminar" on 17 September 2019 at De Warande, Brussels with the support of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels and ADM.
Mr Ivan Christiaens, General Manager of Keppel Seghers Belgium, featured as key note speaker of the event. He talked extensively about the construction of an Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) off the coast of Shek Kwu Chau, south of Lantau Island, Hong Kong.
Mr Christianes' talk was followed by an extensive Q&A session and a walking dinner at De Warande. The event was attended by over 80 guests.
This Hong Kong's first IWMF for municipal solid waste is a key part of Hong Kong's future-oriented waste-management strategy, combining recycling and waste-reduction in landfills with the production of green electricity.
In 2017, Keppel Infrastructure Holdings Pte Ltd (Keppel Infrastructure) and China Harbour Engineering Company Limited, throught their respective subsidiaries, secured the €3 billion project, to design, build and operate the IWMF.
