The third edition of the "Legends of Lion Dance" exhibition will be even bigger and better in 2019.  The exhibition, which tells the stories and traditions associated with Chinese New Year, such as the famous Lion Dance, will include additional exhibits this year, with more stunning lion heads, made and embroidered in Hong Kong according to traditional techniques handed down the generations.

There will be Chinese musical instruments, information about the Chinese horoscope, and a focus on Chinese opera on the occasion of the opening of the new Xiqu Centre in Hong Kong.  The Xiqu Centre, a venue for performances of Cantonese opera, is one of the theatres in Hong Kong's mega cultural district project, the West Kowloon Cultural District.

Entry is free of charge and the exhibition is open seven days a week!

The Belgium Hong Kong Society proudly sponsored the Annual Chinese New Year's Reception in celebration of the Year of the Pig. The reception was organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels, with the support of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

380 guests from the Belgium-Hong Kong Society, the Belgian government, the EU Institutions, the business sector and the Hong Kong community enthusiastically signed up for the event. 

The festivities were accompagnied by an outstanding "Electrifying Reimagination" performance by the Cy Leo Electronic Trio.

The Belgium-Hong Kong Society proudly sponsored the 37th edition of the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF) and invited its members to attend the exclusive Hong Kong Night on 17 April 2019 at the Centre for Fine Arts BOZAR in Brussels. The reception was followed by a screening of the movie "Bodies at Rest" by Renny Harlin.

In Hong Kong, the Dragon Boat Festival (Tuen Ng Jit in Cantonese) occurs on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month and is one of the most important Chinese festivals with the longest history, going back 2,000 years.  Dragon Boat racing is also a prominent sport in Hong Kong at other times of year, with an estimated 30,000 active paddlers. The sport is becoming increasingly popular around the world and has ten official competition teams in the Netherlands alone.  Belgium caught the bug in 2011, when the Festival was held in Antwerp for the first time at the initiative of Antwerp Rotary West.

The Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival is recognised as one of the Antwerp's biggest annual events. Thirty dragon boat teams took part in a full day of racing, attracting around 7 000 enthusiastic paddlers and visitors. Many community groups and companies in Belgium also took part in the Festival as a team-building event. The University of Antwerp and Ghent University in Belgium also fielded teams in this year's races.

The starting shot was provided by the Deputy Representative of HKETO, Brussels, Miss Fiona Chau, who also presented the trophy to the champion.

At the Festival, booklets and information about Hong Kong, including its many tourist attractions and first Talent List of Hong Kong, were distributed at the Hong Kong booth set up by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels. Visitors to the booth received Hong Kong brand prizes after successfully completing a quiz about Hong Kong.
